How to get
A Real Estate License in Alabama
The following information will explain the steps necessary to obtain a real estate
license in the State of Alabama and beginning your career in real estate.
Step 1: Successfully complete a 60 Hour Prelicense Course and
pass a course final at a licensed school.
Step 2: Take and pass the State Real Estate Exam with a score of
70% or above. The test is given on computer at a local test
site.
Step 3: Begin the interview process with the brokers and office
locations where you wish to work. Compare what each
company offers you in the way of training and support to
help you succeed quickly.
Step 4: Choose a broker and apply to the Alabama Real Estate
commission for a temporary license, which is held by your
broker. You can begin your career now or you can have the
state hold your license until you are ready.
Step 5: Attend any company training provided, begin building your business, and complete the 30-hour Post License Course.
Step 6: Upon completion of the 30-hour post license course you must apply for an original salesperson license.
Step 7: Continue your business development through additional educational programs offered by your company, the Association
of REALTORS® and here at the Academy of Real Estate.
Prelicense Classes At The Academy of Real Estate
60-Hour Pre-License Course
Day Classes: Monday & Wednesday: 9:30 a.m. – 1:30 p.m.
Evening Classes: Tuesday & Thursday: 5:30 p.m. – 9:30 p.m.
Start anytime, classes are continuous, attend day or night classes, or both.
Tuition: $389.00 ($200.00 deposit, balance due within four (4) weeks)
Course fee includes books and handouts
Note: Discount given in Post License if both Prelicense and Post courses taken at the Academy of Real Estate.
The Academy of Real Estate employs energetic career professionals, who come from a variety of real estate backgrounds & companies and who have been in the real estate business for many years. They are certified by the Alabama Real Estate commission, and teach not only from the materials but also from their years of experience.
Some subjects covered in classes include Alabama Real Estate License Law, Agency Laws, Property Interests and Deeds, Financing, Contracts, Mortgages, Listing Agreements, Valuing Property, Fair Housing as well as hands on experience and tips from our instructors.
