Steps To Obtain a Real Estate License in Alabama

Step 1: Successfully complete a 60 Hour Prelicense Course and pass a course final at a licensed school.


Step 2: Take and pass the State Real Estate Exam with a score of 70% or above. The test is given on computer at a local test site.


Step 3: Begin the interview process with the brokers and office locations where you wish to work. Compare what each company offers you in the way of training and support to help you succeed quickly.


Step 4: Choose a broker and apply to the Alabama Real Estate commission for a temporary license, which is held by your broker. You can begin your career now or you can have the state hold your license until you are ready.


Step 5: Attend any company training provided, begin building your business, and complete the 30-hour Post License Course.


Step 6: Upon completion of the 30-hour post license course you must apply for an original salesperson license.


Step 7: Continue your business development through additional educational programs offered by your company, the Association of REALTORS®and here at the Academy of Real Estate.
